SYMPA-7 is mid-way through the course
In January–April, the SYMPA seventh intake's students have successfully passed two sessions: the introductory one held in Minsk and devoted to general issues of politics, economics, public administration, and "the Georgian", devoted to decentralised and participatory decision making, e-governance and privatisation. The sessions consisted of a mix of lectures delivered by prominent Belarusian and foreign experts, discussions/group work and study visits i.a. to the Georgian Parliament, Ministry of Internal Affairs, Ministry of Economy and Sustainable Development, Ministry of Agriculture, Tbilisi City Council and Presidential Administration.
Further, the students examined the applicability of the models and ideas presented in the Belarusian context.
In-between sessions, SYMPA/BIPART organized lectures on contemporary issues in the field of public administration, politics and economics in Europe attended by general public as well as by the students.
Thus profound knowledge and best practices in the field were presented by experts from the Institute of Privatisation and Management (Belarus), Institute for Business and Management of Technology of the Belarusian State University, European Humanities University (Lithuania), Belarusian Institute of Strategic Studies, Tbilisi State University, and Salisbury University (Maryland, US).
The best SYMPA students took part in research activities concerning the most topical issues in the field of public administration and presented their findings to peers and SYMPA Alumni.
The nearest SYMPA-7 plans include a study trip to Lithuania focused on the Baltic transition experience and envisaging visits to state agencies, educational institutions and meetings with politicians and experts in public administration.
