ADAMI Media Prize Nominees and Special Mentions 2020 Revealed

Following the official announcement of this year‘s ADAMI Media Prize nominees live at the studio of Georgia Public Broadcaster‘s First Channel, on 20 October ADAMI announced three special mentions, including one for work highlighting COVID-19 and diversity during a live TV broadcast of the show Cine wine la noi? (Who Comes to Us) on Moldovan public TV channel (TRM). The Ukrainian cooking show, Borsch – The Secret Ingredient, Gagauz Blogger Natalia Kel with her Cultural and Entertainment Blog, and the short film co19 by AzTV were honored with ADAMI special mentions.

Dedok’s work, Poetry of the Swamp, was nominated for the category Online Videos.  Poetry of the Swamp is a cycle of original poems recited by people of three different nationalities (Russians, Belarusians, Poles) in Minsk. The film was rated by the jury as “very original with a good dynamic, containing intriguing stories.”

This year there are no ADAMI prize nominees for the Website category, as the jury did not select any website from those submitted for consideration.  This year, more than 300 submissions from Armenia, Azerbaijan, Belarus, Georgia, Moldova and Ukraine were judged by an international jury that gathered in Ljubljana, Slovenia, as well as for two online jury sessions. Twelve nominees were selected for the various prize categories, in addition to the three projects chosen to receive special mention honors for their remarkable work.

The ADAMI Media Prize for Cultural Diversity in Eastern Europe is the largest platform of its kind for media networking on integration and ethnic or religious minority issues in the six Eastern Partnership countries of the EU. Broadcasters, filmmakers and journalists each year are invited to submit their best works to the prestigious ADAMI Media Prize competition. Prizes are awarded in six categories: fiction, documentary, news, student works, websites and online videos.

The winners of this year’s competition will be revealed at an international TV live broadcast on December 10, 2020.
